FLY ME TO THE MOON TRAVEL NEWSLETTER VOLUME 117

Dear Traveler,

Kalo Mina and welcome to March — a month that carries both renewal and remembrance. As spring slowly awakens, it also reminds us of Greece’s enduring spirit, especially with Independence Day just around the corner. In this month’s issue “Living History“, we turn our focus to two powerful symbols of the modern Greek state — both are living testaments to Greece’s history and identity.

First, we explore the world of the Evzones, Greece’s Presidential Guards. Their presence in Syntagma Square is far from being purely ceremonial; the Evzones embody discipline, honor, and national memory.

From their distinctive uniform — with elaborate details that carry symbolic meaning — to the precision of the Changing of the Guard, their presence connects today’s Greece to centuries that define Greece’s resilience and sacrifice.

We then step behind the façade of the Hellenic Parliament building, tracing its remarkable transformation from royal palace to the heart of Greek democracy. Over time, the building has adapted, evolved, and absorbed the milestones of modern Greek history, while preserving its neoclassical dignity.

Today, it is not simply an architectural landmark, but a symbol of the nation’s evolution and identity over the course of history.

In this month’s stories, we invite you to look beyond monuments and ceremonies and immerse yourself in the layers of meaning that shape Greece’s present. Because here, history is never static — it lives and it continues to inspire.

Sincerely yours,
