About:  “Dodecanese” in Greek means twelve islands but in fact this is a cluster of more than 20 islands. Historically more affluent than the Cyclades, involved in trade and shipping, which is evident in the stately architecture, the vivid colors and the easy going people. Though varied between them, all these islands have lovely beaches, some of them are greener, local gastronomy, important history and traditions. The largest island and center of the cluster is Rhodes, offering an international airport and a good base for combining with some of the smallest and lesser-known islands.
